Ellen Whitman had a number of students who were winners of the 2010 Federal Junior Duck Stamp Conservation and Design Contest. Miss Whitman, would like to honor the 2010 New Hampshire Federal Duck Stamp Contest winners from her studio: Sammy Merrill for Best-of-Show; Meghan Michel for first place for her age group; David Michel for first place for his age group; Magnus Johnson for second place, for his age group and Arielle Russo for third place for her age group. Merrill, Best-of-Show winner said, "There art students are very friendly. Ellen the teacher is kind. We don't just learn painting here we learn about lots of techniques, nature, conservation and caring for the earth and caring for each other."
Meghan Michel, first-place winner for her age group, said, "I love Barn Art Studio. It is a quiet place where I can learn to paint and have fun. It's peaceful atmosphere helps me learn from Ellen who is and exceptional art teacher. I love art and it is my favorite time of the week."
David Michel, first-place winner for his age group, said "I feel welcome at Barn Art Studio and it is very relaxing. I like how Ellen walks you though the steps of painting until you get it."
Magnus Johnson second-place winner for his age group, said "There are many reasons why I like painting at Barn Art Studio. One is, that Miss Ellen takes the time to work with each of us individually. Every time that I start a different painting, I learn something new. I also love all of her pets and the snacks she has for us to eat. It makes it fun!"
Arielle Russo, third-place winner for her age group, said "Ellen is a kind and thoughtful teacher. I have learned a lot form her and consider her a friend."
Whitman has maintained a studio in Exeter since 1975.
